How to Get the Eyes You’ve Always Wanted

Your eyes are the first thing to start showing your age. Here are several things you can do to look younger.

The eye area is typically the first area to show age… and the most difficult to treat. Often a multi-therapy approach is needed.

There are new techniques with Botox (or Dysport) that have proven to be a great help with crow’s feet and other fine lines and wrinkles around the eye area.

I often combine Botox or Dysport with other treatments designed to create new collagen or replace lost collagen in the area such as various laser treatments including Fraxel and Mixto fractional CO2 laser that can take years off  and make your eyes look more awake.  The new collagen produced from these procedures will add volume, reduce shadows, puffiness and dramatically improve the tired look.

When saggy, crepe-like skin is the concern and you want a no downtime procedure or if you have more olive or darker skin, I suggest using a radio frequency (RF) treatment like Refirme or Matrix RF to tighten the skin. The heat produced by an RF treatment helps to stimulate the body’s production of collagen. Refirme and Matrix RF also helps to perk up those droopy eyelids.

These in-office procedures need to be supplemented with a good home regimen of moisturization to keep your skin plump and hydrated. There are many eye creams on the market. I use three to address the different mechanisms of why your eye area can start looking older.

For all my patients undergoing eye procedures, I recommend The Eyes Have It! This potent serum addresses most eye concerns, but especially for undereye puffiness.

My other favorite product is AFA Smoothing Eye Cream with Advanced Protein Complex. This Complex with hyaluronic acid, collagen, hydrolyzed collagen, hydrolyzed milk protein and hydrolyzed wheat protein, helps to maintain the proper moisture balance and reduce the appearance of crow’s feet and lines.

If you are like me and dark under eye circles are a concern, I recommend twice daily use of Auriderm Illume Eye Cream, a cream with Vitamin K oxide. Vitamin K oxide helps to eliminate the discoloration underneath the skin while it strengthens the capillaries to prevent future discoloration.

And don’t ever under-estimate the effect of your diet on your skin. Although it can be a challenge during the summer season, try to minimize intake of foods heavy in salt and preservatives, and drink plenty of water every day.
