The Children's School Receives Grant for Classroom Kitchen

The Children's School is excited to announce that its Classroom Kitchen project was awarded a grant from Target Corporation. In recognition of the efforts of The Children’s School in providing experiential learning opportunities for Toddler – Eighth grade students the grant will be used to purchase kitchen appliances and tools as part of the creation of a Kitchen Classroom.

The Children’s School is committed to expanding its school garden and creating a Kitchen Classroom. These spaces will provide another experiential opportunity for our students, and a means of incorporating gardening, harvesting, nutrition, community-building, and cooking skills into classroom curriculum. “We are very happy that our dream of a Kitchen Classroom is becoming a reality,” said Kim Lohnas, Elementary Science Teacher. “The Kitchen Classroom will provide learning opportunities which only focus on nutrition, but also on building healthy life-long habits surrounding food.”

The grant is part of Target’s ongoing efforts to build strong, safe and healthy communities across the country. “At Target, we are committed to serving local communities where we do business,” said Laysha Ward, President, Community Relations, Target. “That’s why we are proud to partner with The Children’s School as we work to strengthen communities and enrich the lives of our guests and team members.”
