TCS Students Visit San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center

The Parent Toddler Cooperative Program at TCS takes their year-long exploration of birds out into the field at the San Elijo Lagoon.

Just before The Children's School closed its doors for Spring Break last week, the students in the Parent Toddler Cooperative Program took their year-long exploration of birds out into the field. At the beginning of the school year, students became fascinated with a clock in their classroom that made bird sounds when it chimed. As they learned about birds, the students became more and more intrigued and their curiosity resulted in a full school year of bird-related explorations.

Leslie Lucas (Toddler Teacher) and Lisa Attinasi (Toddler Teacher, School Nurse, and Parent Educator) met the students and their parents at San Elijo Lagoon Nature Center for a short hike along a scenic looped trail. The outdoor experience was met with lots of enthusiasm as the children identified local birds, ducks, and plant life. The young bird watchers also hiked along the 1/4 mile trail and ate lunch at the Nature Center overlooking the lagoon.
