Fish & Richardson San Diego Announces IP Litigator Juanita Brooks Named 2013 “Top 10” IP Star

Fish & Richardson has announced that 10 of its principals were featured in the inaugural edition of “IP Stars – Top 250 Women in IP” for 2013 by Managing Intellectual Property (MIP) magazine.  Fish principal and powerhouse IP litigator Juanita Brooks, from the firm’s Southern California office based in San Diego, was also named a “Top 10” IP Star.  Lisa Martens, also a principal in the Southern California office, was named to the Top 250 list.

The publication identifies the leading female intellectual property (IP) attorneys in the United States and aims to provide in-house IP counsel with detailed information about each of the 250 IP Stars listed. MIP’s research to identify and select the “IP Stars - Top 250 Women” for 2013 is based on over 1,000 interviews and surveys of partners and law firms across the U.S.

•   Juanita Brooks (Southern California) “Top 10” IP Star – Principal, IP Litigation Group. Brooks  has a nationwide trial practice, specializing in complex intellectual property litigation. She has handled more than 150 trials in her career and her average yearly caseload includes over 20 active patent cases. Her litigation experience includes numerous cases involving intellectual property, product liability and qui tam litigation. Brooks assisted in drafting the local patent rules for the Southern District of California.

•   Lisa Martens  (Southern California) – Principal, Trademark and Copyright Group. Martens’ practice emphasizes trademark prosecution and litigation for the food service, health care, e-commerce, semiconductors, sporting goods and retail clothing industries. She has significant experience managing U.S. and foreign trademark portfolios for large international companies as well as handling domain name disputes and securing domain names in the U.S. and worldwide. Martens also provides advice on the legal requirements for conducting sweepstakes and promotions and the licensing of intellectual property.
