Vote for Your Business Improvement District Reps

All 1,200-plus businesses that have paid the La Jolla Business Improvement District assessment have until 5 p.m. Feb. 17 to vote for board of directors for the new La Jolla Village Merchants Association. There are 15 positions available.

In addition, a “meet the candidates” forum will be hosted 8:30 a.m. Feb. 11 at Aquamoreé, 1250 Prospect St.

The vote will appoint leaders to manage the Business Improvement District.

The city is temporarily managing the BID after deciding last year not to renew the contract of Promote La Jolla. The nonprofit fell out of favor after a critical audit revealed that funds had been mismanaged. Promote La Jolla's insurance carrier agreed late last year to pay the city nearly $90,000 as part of a settlement agreement.
