Voila: Creative Fresh Food Now Open in La Jolla

The new market specializes in salads, sandwiches, soups and desserts.

Are you hungry for a homemade and organic meal? A new fast casual restaurant and fresh food market is now open in La Jolla.

Voila on Pearl Street opened July 24 in the old Bibby’s Crepe Cafe space. Owners Laurent Hebbelinck and his wife Francine, who recently moved from Belgium, said nearly everything at Voila is organic or homemade. They said they pride themselves on providing fresh products to their customers.

One of the main draws is the create-your-own salad; guests choose a base (spinach, lettuce, quinoa or pasta), toppings and choice of dressing. A salad with any five toppings sells for $9.99. Toppings include meats (black forest ham, turkey, tuna), cheese (blue, goat, gouda or parmesan), and a variety of specialty toppings, including avocado, bacon, tofu, almond, walnut, egg, black olive, corn and sunflower seed. Salads are topped with a choice of dressing.

There’s also Croque Monsieur, a French-style sandwich, available with a variety of ingredients. But Belgium may be best known for its desserts, and Voila has that area covered. The shop owners bake a variety of pies, muffins, cookies and brownies. Plus, Voila features a different quiche and soup of the day every day.

Seating is very limited at Voila, so whether customers are seeking a healthy lunch or indulging their sweet tooth, they will most likely experience the results on the go.
