Dubbed by many as a baby Gump’s (a unique San Francisco gift and home decor Mecca), Bowers carries a vast array of jewelry lines, gift items, and timepieces. Lines Bowers carries Mosser glass, Heritage crystal and Marina J jeweler, a designer known for the beadwork she created on the recent $2.5 million Victoria's Secret bra.  Bowers is the store for the truly sentimental. Custom engagement rings, engraved baby gifts and frames, Bowers is a store that makes a business of knowing its customers and helping to guide them to thoughtful choices over blinged out statement pieces. Prices here range from a sterling silver charm starting at $8 to a diamond bracelet in the thousands. 

Aja Fine Jewelry: 7884 Girard Ave., La Jolla, 858-459-3300

Aja’s jewelry is all designed and handmade by Michael Jezar. His line is called Michael John. Aja offers one of the largest engagement ring collections in the country, with over 1800 different designs. Designed for the woman who appreciates a delicate look, Aja’s pieces are feminine and floral, with elements of classic old-world style. Dealing with the miners directly, the store is able to cut all the stones in-house. Customers will find some of the finest quality stones around at some of the best prices to boot.

Owned by Gary Bulfer for 21 years, Bulfer’s offers all custom or commissioned pieces designed by Bulfer himself. “My name’s on the sign. I’ve built my business on the trifecta of design, top quality, and price. Just because people live in La Jolla doesn’t mean they throw money around. If I made your piece, you’re free to stop in anytime and I’ll clean it and repair it for free. I don’t send out any pieces. I make everything myself,” Bulfer says. From engagement rings, to pendants, and earrings, Bulfer is able to create almost anything in a desired style. Prices range with a wide variety of styles in sterling silver rings and earrings at $300 to a 2-carat Fancy Intense yellow diamond ring for $50,000.

For the guy who is in the ultimate doghouse, a watch from Westime is no small investment. Carrying almost exclusively small Euro designer lines like , Hublot, Richard Mille, Jacob & Co., and Dior, Westime’s prices vary from $800 to $800,000. The store opened just a few months ago in December 2011. This store is for the discriminating collector; Westime has one of the most exclusive collections of watches in the country.

With two locations on Prospect, Moradi has been in LJ for 27 years. Moradi carries almost exclusively estate jewelry, also referred to as previously owned. Pieces here can be anywhere between 30 to 100 years old. The diamonds are older cuts, making each piece unique and often more valuable. Moradi is perfect for customers hoping to find great deals on Tiffany and Cartier to collectible Art Deco and Art Nouveau pieces at competitive prices. Prices here start around $500 for small gold necklace or ring and range up to $600,000 diamond pieces.
