ProRituals Salon and Academy Opens in La Jolla

La Jolla is about to get a lot prettier. Daytime Emmy Award-winning hairstylist and television personality Terrence Michael Renk has opened a salon and beauty academy at 7443 Girard Ave. ProRituals Salon and Academy opened in early May, and Renk and his team are already vying to be the beauty hotspot in San Diego.

“The concept of ProRituals Salon is to provide a creative salon environment while giving customers different hair pricing options for all beauty budgets,” Renk said.

And creative it is—ProRituals Salon goes beyond offering haircuts and styling. In addition to having four professionally trained hairstylists, the salon also features a makeup station, blow dry bar and full-body waxing room where clients can get Brazilian waxes with the hard wax method.

“We really want people to know the quality of what we do, and the quality of the experience at our salon,” Renk said.

Over the past 25 years, Renk has earned a reputation as a top stylist in the business. He has been the credited stylist to many celebrities, including Rachael Hunter and Martha Stewart, and has worked on popular television shows such as Friday Night Lights and The League on FX.

Not only with ProRituals Salon cater to local residents, but it will also serve as a learning academy for licensed cosmetologists across the country. Renk, who also travels monthly as a haircolor educator, hosts classes every 10 weeks for 30 or more students who fly from around the United States to learn his techniques, including his distinct blonding technique, called the Beverly Hills blonde.

And for those who aren’t professionals, but will still like to improve their beauty routine, Terrence and his team offer free, monthly education and tutorial events. Attendees can learn everything from how to get the perfect do-it-your-self blowout, choosing the best color and how to nail the smoky eye look.

ProRituals Salon is open 7 days a week from, with hours from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Wednesday and 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday and Friday.
