Now Showing: ArcLight Cinemas at UTC

Arclight Cinemas opened its first theater outside of Los Angeles at Westfield UTC.

ArcLight Cinemas opened its fifth theater at Westfield UTC this month.

The theater prides itself on showing films as the filmmaker intended. The theater is an advertising-free environment, with no late seating, no cell phone use, and easy access to buy tickets online, on iPhone or iPad apps, or at an onsite kiosk. In addition, it is all reserved seating. When purchasing tickets, moviegoers can select their own seat.

Westfield UTC has 14-screens with 1,800 seats and a full café with classic movie-theater concessions including popcorn made with real butter and caramel corn, made-on-premises.

“Since 2002, our mission has been to create a place where people can enjoy going to the movies to escape from everyday life and immerse themselves in the film,” said Gretchen McCourt, executive vice president, cinema programming in an announcement. “We’ve spent ten years perfecting the concept of a hassle-free moviegoing experience and are so proud to be opening our doors to a community of such avid movie lovers. Once you visit ArcLight La Jolla, you won’t want to see a movie anywhere else.”

ArcLight theaters have a “black box” design that provides the best environment for sound technology.
