Nosh Delicatessen Opening on Girard Avenue

Another dining option is available in La Jolla.

La Jollans will soon have another deli option to choose from. Nosh, a premium delicatessen, is set to open at 7734 Girard Ave on Thursday, June 20th. The restaurant will take the place of Tabu Sushi, which closed in April.

Nosh began building its reputation as a top-choice deli in San Diego with the opening of their first location in Encinitas in summer 2012. Owner Bas, who heads Torus Hospitality LLC, credits the deli’s success to his use of authentic and top-quality ingredients.

“Our focus is to bring a real East Coast, Chicago-style deli to San Diego,” Bas said. “Our customer base is people who know the products and understand great meats, so that is what we deliver.”

Bas’ family has owned and operated more than 20 delis on the East Coast, and he moved to San Diego two years ago to continue the tradition on the West Coast. The La Jolla location will offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving traditional dishes, done well, he said. Options will include omelettes, pancakes and crepes for breakfast, as well as corned beef and pastrami sandwiches, paninis and seafood dishes for lunch and dinner.

Nosh imports all meats from the East Coast and offers the always hard to find, Nova Lox.

Price points for the dishes range from $4 to $12.

Guests who have visited the Encinitas location will find a similar experience on Girard Avenue. The 2,300-square-foot restaurant will feature checkerboard flooring, custom tile work and a large mural of New York City. The restaurant accommodate about 70 guests, but will also offer take out and catering options.

“It has been a dream of mine to open a restaurant in La Jolla,” Bas, a resident of La Jolla said. “I really love the Village and I think the demographics are perfect for the products we offer.”

Nosh’s ribbon cutting took place on Thursday, June 13 and their grand opening is June 20th at 6 a.m. Visit their website at noshdelicatessen.com to learn more.
