New Admission Prices at Birch Aquarium

Admission prices are increasing $1 to $2 next month.

It will soon cost a bit more to visit the 5,000 specimens representing more than 380 species of fishes and invertebrates at  . The local aquarium will raise its admission prices on August 1.

Nigella Hillgrath, executive director at Birch Aquarium, said it was a difficult to decision to make but a much needed one to bridge the gap between expenses and income.

"With the increase we are able to keep the price low and pay the bills," said Hillgrath.

Ticket prices will be $14 for adults, $10 for seniors that are 60 years of age and older, $9.50 for youth aged 3 to 17, and free for children 2 and younger.

The old prices were $12 for adults, $9 for seniors, $8.50 for youth.
