Mystery of 30 Orange Bicycles in La Jolla Solved

Orangetheory Fitness created a guerrilla campaign to market its gym opening on Girard in October.

On Saturday we asked you if the bright orange bicycles that popped up at high traffic intersections were art or vandalism. We learned the answer is neither—its a guerrilla marketing effort for a gym coming to La Jolla this fall.

Orangetheory Fitness at 7734 Girard Avenue will offer a station based interval training workout. Users rotate between treadmills, rowing machines, TRX suspension training and free weights—all while wearing a heart rate monitor to ensure an optimum workout.

Owner Billy Borja has been a trainer in La Jolla for 18 years. He said the classes are unique because they "monitor, measure and maximize personal results."

Orangetheory is slated to open in October and will offer 55 classes per week at all levels. To learn more or to reserve membership, stop by 7 days a week from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
