The election results are in. Six candidates, including three incumbents, earned board of director positions on the La Jolla Village Merchants Association Board. The election results were counted at the Merchant Association’s meeting on Wednesday morning.
Debbie Newell of , James Niebling of , Kate Brainard of , Claudette Berwin of and Anthony Scoma of Anthony J. Scoma, DDS Pediatric Dentistry all earned three year positions ending Oct. 2014. Leon Chow of was voted into an unexpired term ending Oct. 2012.
Mike McLaughlin, inspector of elections, said there is an appeals process should any member of the LJVMA wish to challenge the results. A challenge must be submitted in writing, include specific details that support the challenge, be signed by the challenger, and include the challenger's mailing address, email and phone number. Challenges can be emailed to mike@tmc2020.com. The seven-day appeals window begins the day after the count is announced, which is Thursday. The appeal period ends at 5 p.m. on Oct. 20.
“If no written challenges are received by the Inspector of Elections by the above deadline, the results become final, and will be certified by the Inspector of Elections,” McLaughlin said via email.
A special board meeting will be held at 8:30 a.m., Oct. 25 at the La Jolla Woman’s Club to swear in the new directors.
