Medical Spa Honored by Latina Business Group

SK Sanctuary was honored by the National Latina Business Women Association San Diego Chapter.

, a medical spa for reconstructive and cosmetic surgery patients, was named business enterprise of the year by a local Latina business association on Dec. 3. The National Latina Business Women Association’s San Diego chapter presented the award to the spa at a lunch fundraiser at downtown San Diego's University Club.

The spa was recognized for its longevity, growth and community service. SK Sanctuary hosts free Latina breast cancer nights at the Tuscan-style, two-story building on La Jolla Boulevard. 

“We are deeply honored,” Lyn Tisdale Krant told the audience of about 150  business owners, representatives and professionals.

Krant and her husband, Dr. Stephen Krant, a cosmetic and reconstructive surgeon, opened the spa in 2001 and later founded the nonprofit SK Institute, which holds free seminars on cancer-related topics and therapeutic spa services for cancer patients and survivors.

San Diego Mayor Jerry Sanders, Chula Vista Mayor Cheryl Cox and state Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher were among officials who attended the event. Sanders discussed the city’s budget and pension crises and its efforts to produce jobs and improve conditions for businesses.

“We hope we can help you be more successful,” Sanders told members of the Latina business group.

The Latina Business Women Association chapter was formed in 2003 and works to promote and support Latina business owners and professionals. Others awards presented Friday:
