La Jolla Music To Close July 1

La Jolla music first opened its doors more than 50 years ago.

La Jolla music has been a community staple since it first opened its doors in 1962. Although its first location was housed in a quaint storefront along Wall Street, it moved to its current home in the 70s.

Since that time La Jolla Music has provided its clients easy-access to sheet music, rent-to-own instruments, a myriad of lesson offerings and countless musical accessories.

From day one until now, the staff has been insistent; if they don’t have what you’re looking for, they’ll do their best to help you find it.

A store representative said the decision to close La Jolla Music was due to the declining health of the current owner.

Continuing the lease, he said was just too much for her take on.

Those who are currently taking lessons will be able to continue to do so.

At the current time many of the teachers have either located or are in the process of locating new space.

Once La Jolla Music closes its doors, clients will be referred to Alan’s Music in La Mesa for sheet music and Music Central on Balboa Avenue for instrument rentals.

La Jolla music does a lot of rental business with elementary and high school-aged students. July was chosen so as to make sure the students could have their instruments through the end of the 2011-12 school year.

All musical accessories are priced at 40 percent off. Musical instruments are available for 25 percent off.
