Get Style and Design Help From Two New Hotspots

KODA Salon and Decoro 360, both on Girard Avenue, are bringing chic to homes and heads.

Two new businesses recently opened in La Jolla. KODA Salon and Decoro 360 opened doors late last year.

KODA Salon is located in the space previously inhabited by Travis Parker Salon at 7843 Girard Ave., Suite C. Stylist Cheng Tan worked with and was trained under Parker. When the TP salon closed, Tan moved to another salon and settled in….but that wasn’t the end of the story.

Within a year, Tan decided to open her own spot, and in her search for new real estate, found the Parker salon had not been leased.

All the stylists at KODA are L'Oréal educators and are regulars at New York Fashion Week styling models for designers like L.A.M.B., Phillip Lim, Zac Posen and L’Wren Scott.

“I called this space home for many years, and now it is. My goal is to offer a complete luxury, laid-back salon experience for my clients. My loyal clients couldn’t be happier and we’re building new clientele everyday” Tan says.

For the last few years the salon has taken care of the locks of many of San Diego’s own Charger Girl cheerleaders and that hasn’t changed under the new ownership. “Whether it’s the look of a Victoria Secret model, the girl next door, or something completely new and cutting edge, KODA is here to take care of you,” says KODA stylist Jay Lin Youm.

  • Koda is located 7843 Girard Ave., Suite C., 858-459-5632, kodasalon.com. It's hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m.

If you're looking to decorate your house, you can find “inspired by” signature furniture styles at Decoro 360.

Originally from San Francisco, Decoro 360 opened its fourth and newest SoCal location in La Jolla late last year.

Known for their custom sofas, Decoro can design and complete a sofa in four weeks. Prices range from $1,900 to $5,000.

Owner Benson Chow has an all word-of-mouth advertising style, great relationships with manufacturers, and a reputation for negotiating and bargaining with clients; all of which keeps prices down.

“The store caters to young professionals who want cool modern design, but have a budget—kind of like CB2,” says Bryan Izon, the store’s design specialist.

Decoro 360 offers interior design help, custom furniture design, and space planning all complimentary. The La Jolla store will be the first to showcase kitchen and office design elements as well—all beginning mid year 2012.

  • Decoro 360 is located at 7643 Girard Ave., 858-255-8473, decoro360.com. It is open Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
