The Mediterranean Sea, Western world’s first globalization of trade, was the most important route for history’s first merchants and travelers of ancient times. The Med facilitated trade and cultural exchange between city-states of the Levant, southern Europe and North Africa.
We will briefly look at Sea’s incredibly diverse art, culture, history and wine - one of the area’s important trade commodities. This presentation is a preview of the French Riviera Wine Walk offered May 7 - 13, 2012 by WWW.TheBlueMed.com

Understanding and savoring antiquity is key to appreciating our modern culture. For the majority of history the Mediterranean Sea was the center of the known world and influenced the Roman Empire, Phoenicia, the Levant, Gaul, Mesopotamia, Egypt, Carthage, Persia, the Iberian peninsula, Turkey, Greece, Byzantium, Thrace and many of today’s eastern European cultures. Great climate, beautiful coastline, rich history, diverse culture make the Mediterranean the world’s the most popular destination.
The presentation Thursday, 10/20 offers a ‘Taste of the Mediterranean’ - its rich and varied art, culture, wine and cuisine. Sadly, no food or wine. Happily, some great ideas on how to live the Mediterranean life. Live long; live Med!
