Make Art from Trash at Library

Stop by the La Jolla Library on Draper Avenue on Saturday till 2 p.m. to help create a community piece of art that also educates the public about plastic trash.

Aspiring artists of all ages can turns trash into art at the from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8. Participants will help New Ocean Blue and the Wyland Foundation create an art masterpiece from something once thrown away carelessly.

The community will fill in sections of a painted canvas with plastic trash found at local San Diego beaches and learn about plastic pollution and its effects on marine animals.

After the community event, the library will showcase the completed piece along with a short informational panel about plastic pollution. The canvas will be displayed through early November.
