When to plan a tummy tuck

While San Diego tummy tucks are not just for women anymore, typically, females plan for them ahead of time.  And for course, the popularity of tummy tucks fan nationwide.

Many women know all too well that after having one or more babies, exercise and healthy eating can help her lose those “after baby” pounds.  But what may not change is tightening up skin which sags on the belly and regaining that “pre-baby” day body.

This is where a tummy tuck is a great option to help her achieve those aesthetic goals.

Also known as an abdominoplasty, this surgery not only eliminates excess skin on her belly, but it can correct diastasis recti (also known as abdominal separation that can be seen as a ridge running down the midline of the abdomen).  During the tummy tuck, a San Diego board certified plastic surgeon can reconnect those abdominal muscles and help regain abdominal muscle strength.  And during this surgery, one of the best results is excising and decreasing the appearance of stretch marks.

Typically, liposuction is used during the surgery to help slim the waistline and abdominal area.

Ideally, it is best for a woman to have the procedure when she has completed her family, but if a woman desires another child, it is recommend waiting at least a year after her tummy tuck.

After the birth a tummy tuck revision could be done.

But the best plan is to have babies first and a tummy tuck later.

At any rate, before having the procedure, both men and women should maintain a stable weight for two reasons. If a patient decides to lose weight after the procedure, they will have to contend with more sagging skin. On the other hand, if a person gains weight after the procedure, the already delicate skin may be compromised with scarring distortion and stretch marks.

The person does not have to be the perfect weight for their height, but where they fill comfortable and find a perfect weight for them.
