Video: UCSD Alumna Screams Out for Egypt in Art

Graffiti artist Jessica Sabogal created stencil art and a time-lapse video of the process that is receiving critical acclaim.

UC San Diego alumna artist Jessica Sabogal is making more than art. She is making a statement with her time-lapse video documenting her graffiti-inspired art process in a piece “for Egypt.”

Sabogal’s video was posted on YouTube with this message: “After 30 years of silence—Egyptian screams finally broke through. Hopefully this piece can serve as a memory of what they accomplished in Tahrir Square and a warning to never again let voices fall silent.”

The video was posted to YouTube on Feb. 27 and had 1,700 views by March 9. The short two minute and 13 second clip got another 13,782 views on CNN's iReport since the video was posted March 2.
