This week's farmers market pick are vases from Vases by Vazu.
At first glance, these colorful vases look like any traditional glass vase. To one’s surprise, however, they are actually made of a mix of polymers, not glass. This makes the vases shiny, transparent and strong, but most of all, portable. My favorite product, however, is the vase with suction cups that is able to stick to any mirror or window, taking flowers off of the traditional tabletop.
The vases are imported from Israel by Don Berry and his Cindy, who own a San Marcos-based business. The couple first got a hold of the vases when a friend brought a similar model over from a museum in Tel Aviv. During the couple’s first exhibit with the product, they sold nearly 500 vases in one week.
“The product is well received because it’s so easy, especially for people who travel often,” Berry said.
This is their fourth year at the Open Aire Market and their products are available every Sunday.
