The A List Celebrates Local Artists

Young professionals gathered Thursday night at the Athenaeum Music & Arts Library in La Jolla to check out local art.

Art aficionados packed the Thursday night to drink, eat and vote. Members of the Athenaeum’s young professional group The A List had fun selecting their favorite piece from the , which featured contributions from local artists.

Attendees sipped on extravagant drinks and enjoyed food from sponsors such as and Whisknladle as they surveyed the artwork and attempted to pick the best one. The band Trio Gadjo played swanky tunes while a woman tap-danced, providing an entertaining musical set for the art-intrigued crowd. When A-listers weren’t looking at the art, listening to the band or drinking local craft beer, they struck a pose to make their own animated flipbook from sponsor Now Flip This.

Event organizers Maura Walters and Jennifer Pyun said the goal of The A List is to have a younger audience become more exposed to local art and music. By arranging five to six events each year, they hope young people will learn to appreciate and value local talent.
