Sue Palmer Continues Her Royal Musical Legacy in La Jolla

The "Queen of Boogie Woogie" closes out the La Jolla Concerts by the Sea today at Scripps Park.

Known as the “Queen of Boogie Woogie,” Sue Palmer has performed with boogie legends such as Marcia Ball, Steve Lucky and Mike Seeley.

Palmer spent the ‘90s touring with blues singer Kandy Kayne, but has spent recent years touring with her own orchestra and recording a solo piano effort that won a San Diego Music Award for Best Blues Album in 2010.

Boogie woogie is a stylistic blues offshoot that emphasizes dancing. As such, it has close connections with swing and other rhythmically upbeat genres.
