Snail Mail Lives On at UCSD

Come to a special exhibit at UC San Diego and learn the lost art of how to properly and neatly write letters.

In an age of ever-expanding technology, digital has taken over. Hand-written sentiments are seemingly a thing of the past, but a unique exhibit at is temporarily reviving the lost art of letters.

is an exhibit over in the West Wing of the Geisel Library at UCSD. It ends on Friday, but you still have time to get over there and browse through some literature that’ll teach you some letter-writing etiquette—including “thank you” notes. The exhibit encourages visitors to use on-site stationery and pens to write letters as they’re inspired by the literature on exhibit.

Today, Jan. 25, visitors of the exhibit can get a special letter lesson from a penmanship expert and local educator, Sylvia Rubin. Rubin will give people some pointers on improving your penmanship (yes, even all the lefties out there!). The UCSD Arts Library will provide the supplies and Rubin will help those interested in constructing neat and tidy letters to whomever they wish. At the writer's request, the UCSD Arts Library will have that very letter delivered to the addressee via the U.S. Postal Service
