See Your Favorite Opera Moments in La Jolla

Orchestra Nova is presenting opera's favorite moments in one fun evening.

Ever wonder what it’d be like to mash up all of your favorite opera moments into one? Wonder no more!

Orchestra Nova San Diego is providing you with a unique opera experience tonight at the  (MCASD) in La Jolla. Opera enthusiasts can purchase tickets for a , featuring pieces from famous operas like Barber of Seville, The Merry Widow, La Traviata and Rigoletto.

The night of story-telling through song will feature some great singers, like Megan Weston, a soprano who has sang with Orchestra Nova before, including a solo in Handel’s Messiah. Weston has had almost 50 roles in various operas.

Susan Poretsky will also be lending her voice to the night. Poretsky was born in the Ukraine and made her American debut in Carnegie Hall in 1993. She sings the part of mezz-soprano.

Tenor Robert MacNeil will join the stage and show off his pipes during the compilation. MacNeil has performed around the world, including Rome.

Finally, baritone Gregorio Gonzales will also be a part of the opera evening. The Powegian has sung for the Los Angeles Opera and hopes to one day perform the difficult role of Pellias in Debussy’s Pellias et Meslisande.

The favorite opera moments will be performed at MCASD La Jolla’s Sherwood Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. tonight. Feb. 13. There is a Nova Experience at 6 p.m. that costs $10 and includes food and drink before the show. Tickets for that can be purchased here.
