Rev your engines and fasten your seatbelts for the newest show in town.
The La Jolla Playhouse is putting on a production like none other. Beginning Feb. 23, residents can flock to the theater to see Moving Arts The Car Plays: San Diego.
The unique set up of The Car Plays allows small audiences of two to experience short scenes from inside a car. Intimate 10-minute plays each take place in a car and couples move from vehicle to vehicle to experience works by different playwrights. After being ushered to their seats, the car doors close and participants watch the drama, or comedy, unfold just inches away. Ten minutes later, the doors open, a seat in a new car awaits, and a fresh story begins.
The Car Plays is the second production of the Without Walls (WoW) series at the playhouse. It’s the brainchild of Paul Stein and a truly one-of-a-kind theatrical experience. Every car has a story and in this play, you’ll learn five of them in an intimate setting.
This production is running from Feb. 23-March 4 at the following times:
- Thursdays and Fridays: at 5:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
- Saturdays and Sundays at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 7 p.m. and 8:30 p.m.
Ready to take a joy ride (or five)? All performances will be outside at the Playhouse, rain or shine. Tickets cost just $25 and can be purchased by calling the box office at 858-550-1010.
