Matt Costa Brings 'Sunshine' to La Jolla

Matt Costa is more than just another guy with a guitar. True, WGWG (white guy with guitar) syndrome has plagued all corners of the modern musical landscape, but Costa has risen above the crowded hipster scene that many of his contemporaries call home.

When Costa was 12, he taught himself to play guitar while playing along to Nirvana records. He was placed on the singer-songwriter radar when he opened for Jack Johnson on his 2005 tour. He quickly picked up touring gigs with Modest Mouse, Oasis and Death Cab for Cutie.  

Costa, however, has sounded a voice of his own, from his first album, 2005’s Songs We Sing, to his newly released self-titled effort. Along the way he has recorded songs like Sunshine, Cold December, Witchcraft and Mr. Pitiful.

If you like smooth acoustics and soulful lyrics, Matt Costa is your man for this year’s Green Flash Concert Series.

All Green Flash Concerts are 21+, and include parking and admission to aquarium exhibits.
