J*Company Youth Theatre Honors La Jolla Playhouse During 19th Season
The award-winning youth program and the legendary Playhouse are joining forces to present three musicals
For its 19 season, the J*Company Youth Theatre is doing things a little differently.
They’ll be joining forces with the to perform three popular musicals―Thoroughly Modern Millie, Xanadu and a tempered version of The Who’s Tommy.
The J*Company is an award-winning program operated out of the Lawrence Family Jewish Community Center (). Representatives say they’re proud to pay tribute to the Playhouse’s Broadway success―18 of its productions have transferred to the famed New York stage, earning 26 Tony Awards.

“I’m particularly excited about the opportunity J*Company young artists will have to work with and learn from the creators of these shows themselves,” said J*Company’s Artistic Director Joey Landwehr of Playhouse directors Christopher Ashley and Shirley Fishman.
He continued: “This is something brand new and only available through J*Company and is a perfect stepping stone to their growth as artists.”

Performance dates are as follows:
- The Who’s Tommy runs from Dec. 2-11, 2011
- Thoroughly Modern Millie runs from March 2-18, 2012
- Xanadu: The Musical runs from May 4-13, 2012
