A-List Music and Art Mixer

The Athenaeum Music & Arts Library will host its next A-List music and art mixer on Thursday, June 28, at 6:30 p.m., in its historic library.

The Athenaeum A List (a membership group for young professionals and art and music lovers) presents a mixer surrounded by the new exhibition Robert Kushner: Scriptorium: Devout Exercises of the Heart.

Kushner’s 1,000 paintings adorning 18th and 19th century book texts will be pinned around the antique walls of the Athenaeum Library. The feminine floral paintings entangled with the masculine texts create a romance consummated by paint and ink. This intercourse of decorative and utilitarian arts births an exotic aesthetic, both complementary and dynamic.

Musical guest will be The Heavy Guilt. The six-piece rock band will paint the library with live music, overlaying warmth and gravelly blues onto their fevered and energetic music. Avant Garden sponsors include Karl Strauss, Whisknladle, and Cups.

This event is free for A List Members, $10 for Athenaeum Members, $12 for Nonmembers.
