Actor and environmental activist Ted Danson will speak about his book "Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans and What We Can Do to Save Them" on March 17.

Sam Malone will not be serving up green beer for St. Patrick’s Day. Cheers actor and environmental activist Ted Danson, who played Sam for the popular sitcom, will be at on March 17 for a discussion and signing of his new book Oceana: Our Endangered Oceans and What We Can Do to Save Them.

For more than 20 years, Danson has devoted himself as an activist for oceanic biosystems. In Oceana, Danson details his journey from joining a local protest in the mid-1980s to oppose offshore oil drilling in his Southern California neighborhood to testifying before congressional committees in Washington, D.C., and forming Oceana, the largest organization in the world focused solely on ocean conservation.

His book offers more than a conversational history of our oceans in the past half-century; it boasts graphics, charts, photographs and offers solutions “showing you the specific courses of action you can take to become active, responsible stewards of our planet’s most precious resource—its oceans.”
