Multi-tasking is always impressive and as the holidays near, it becomes a necessity. The is hosting a special event that features one of San Diego’s most entertaining multi-taskers.
The Opera Singing Chef, Elizabeth Podsiadlo, is one of San Diego’s most informative entertainers. According to her website, Podsiadlo is the “Proud owner of a worm compost farm and a small vegetable garden” and encourages “green” cooking. She has both live and recorded cooking classes where she unites food with music. Podsiadlo has seeked help from Pandeli Lazaridi of the “Small Opera of San Diego,” and has made opera CDs and has included opera guests on her cooking show.
Podsiadlo teaches cooking classes in many San Diego County venues, like various museums, the botanical gardens and more, according to her website.
You can come Thursday evening at the Riford Center. She’ll be teaching you how to prepare some Thanksgiving favorites, like:
- Tequila Cranberry Chutney, served over warm brie, topped with pecans and served atop fresh French bread
- Stuffed pumpkin, with ground turkey, dried cranberries, pistachios and rice
- Tender pumpkin flan, finished with a sweet crunchy pumpkin seed brittle
While she cooks her way through these menu items, Podsiadlo will offer up a song or two for your enjoyment. Tastings and recipes will be provided for each of her demos.
Want to learn some new Thanksgiving dishes and hear some opera while you’re at it? See Chef Podsiadlo at the tomorrow evening from 6-8 p.m. Members of the center can reserve a spot for $40. If you’re a non-member but would like to attend, cost is $45. Call the Center for tickets at 858-459-0831.
