Moon Walk on Scripps Pier

Birch Aquarium offers educational walks on Scripps Pier during the summer months. The walks are all held during a full moon.

Approximately 40 guests enjoyed a guided walk on Scripps Pier Thursday night. The 1,090-foot concrete pier is usually closed to the public and used only by scientists, students and aquarium staff as a platform to collect research data. However, during summer months, guests can enjoy the Full Moon Pier Walk, a 2.5-hour tour hosted by .

Aquarium naturalists provided participants a tour of campus and guided eager guests onto the pier at sunset. At the end of the pier, staff set up stations that allowed participants to look at creatures through microscopes, make marine organisms glow in the dark and other activities.

The next Full Moon Pier Walk is August 12. For more information visit Birch Aquarium.
