Live a Whale of a Tale This Winter as the Gray Whale Migrates

An estimated 20,000 gray whales will pass San Diego this winter. You can be a part of the action aboard daily whale watching cruises with Birch Aquarium's ocean experts.

Gray whale season is surfacing at the Birch Aquarium. You can be a witness to the longest mammal migration in the world on one of the daily whale watching cruises with Birch Aquarium naturalists.

Twice a day, cruises will set out to find the approximately 20,000 gray whales passing San Diego on their 10,000-mile journey. San Diego is just one of the stops along the whales’ round-trip migration from their Bering Sea feeding grounds to Baja California’s lagoons, where they play, rest, breed and give birth.

Daily whale watching tours will run from Dec. 26 to April 14; one tour 9:45 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. and the second from 1:30 to 5 p.m.
