La Jolla Brewhouse Celebrates Barks and Beers

A local brewhouse is hosting a German dinner with a cause.

Something’s brewing over on Fay Avenue and it smells like Germany.

La Jolla Brewhouse is hosting an on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. There will be the expected Oktoberfest findings, like brats and beer, but the Brewhouse kicks it up a notch with a four-course meal carefully paired with their craft beers and a beneficial bonus.

This year, La Jolla Brewhouse is giving nearly half of their proceeds from their Oktoberfest to Fiesta Island Dog Owners (FIDO), which supports the efforts to secure the fenced off-leash section of Fiesta Island as open and off leash for all time.

"We need places for our pets to run, and for our families, (including our furry ones) to be together," said event host Claudette Mannix. "I support [FIDO's] mission 100 percent."

Bring your own Fido (as long as he’s well-behaved and on a leash) to the event, which will feature delicious items like:

  • Onion and Bacon Tart with Humboldt Fog Cheese
  • Roasted Beet Salad with Walnuts and Goat Cheese
  • Bratwurst and Beer Sausages with Apples, Onions and Sauerkraut served with German Style Fried Potatoes and Hearty Bavarian Rye Bread
  • Vanilla Bean Stout Float

All meals have a vegetarian option and are paired with local beers, like New Belgium Hoptober Golden Ale and Stone Smoked Porter.

Proprietor and brewmaster Mark Purciel and Oceanside Ale Works lead brewer Scotty Bevilacqua will be on site to talk about their experiences with beers, starting a brewery from scratch and beer production.

Raffle prizes from local companies, like , , La Jolla Home Buddies and more, will be won.
