Happy Flag Day

In between Memorial Day and the Fourth of July is another patriotic holiday- Flag Day.

We remember the dedication and service of fallen veterans on Memorial Day. We celebrate our independence on July 4, the anniversary of when the Declaration of Independence was signed. But what do we do on Flag Day?

Flag Day we celebrate our nation’s flag. The Second Continental Congress adopted the Stars and Stripes as the nation’s banner on June 14, 1777.

Celebrate with pride. Here are a few events happening in the area today:

Three year later, student George Winne Jr. set himself on fire and died protesting the war. When alumnus Vince Basquez learned of the flagpole’s history, he solicited donations to install a plaque in a Flag Day celebration.
