Filmmaker Judd Apatow to Receive Visionary Award in La Jolla

He was selected by the San Diego Film Festival Foundation as this year's honoree.

Director and screenwriter Judd Apatow will be honored for his work Thursday by the San Diego Film Festival Foundation at Tribute Gala in La Jolla. He will be awarded with the Visionary Filmmaker Award.

Apatow is known for such comedic hits as Bridesmaids, This is 40, Knocked Up, Pineapple Express and The 40-Year-Old Virgin. The tribute is at 7:30 p.m. at the Museum of Contemporary Art, 700 Prospect St.

Last year’s award recipient was Gus Van Sant, known for directing such films as Good Will Hunting and Promised Land.
