Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation Makes Grant to Local Children's Hospital

A grant of $20,000 was given to Ronald McDonald house Charities of San Diego and Rady Children's Hospital.

A recent donation to Rady Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego will enable these nonprofits to continue to provide free services to families with children being treated at the hospital. The Ellen Browning Scripps Browning Foundation gave $20,000 to the organizations.

“Our region’s nonprofit organization can achieve great results when working together to address pressing issues in our community,” said Ellen Browning Scripps Foundation Executive Director Doug Dawson, in an announcement. “This grant will enable both the Ronald McDonald House and Rady Children’s to help distressed families who are facing significant emotional, financial and logistical challenges during a child’s unexpected hospitalization.”

The Ronald McDonald House provides a “home away from home” to families with children being treated for serious, often life-threatening conditions at local hospitals. The local house has 47 guest suites and a family care center open to anyone with a child in an areas hospital.
