Did You See the Shark Swarm in La Jolla This Week?

Hundreds of leopard sharks have been sun bathing in the shallow and calm waters of La Jolla Shores this week. Have you seen them?

Kayakers, snorkelers and paddleboarders had an extra special treat in La Jolla this week—and were are not talking about the sunshine. The leopard sharks have come into the calm, warm shallows in La Jolla Shores in the hundreds.

Andy Nosal, a shark expert with the Scripps Institute of Oceanography, told 10 News that it is not unusual to see leopard sharks in La Jolla in late November. The sharks, which come to the La Jolla from June to mid-December, are pregnant and enjoy resting in the shallow waters during the day.

These soon-to-be shark mommies travel out to deeper water at night to feed.
