Chargers-Bengals Game Blacked Out

The team failed to sell enough seats to lift the black out for Sunday's game.

The San Diego Chargers failed to sell enough tickets for their Sunday home game against the Cincinnati Bengals to have the game televised locally, team officials announced Thursday.

Ticket sales fell more than 5,300 general tickets short of the sellout the National Football League required to have Sunday's 1:25 p.m. game shown in Southern California, team officials said. The game will still be broadcast via radio.

NFL policy requires all games not sold out 72 hours prior to kickoff be blacked out in their local market, although the league usually grants an extension if the team is close to selling out.
