California Surf Museum Honors Windansea Surf Club

The Windansea Surf Club exhibit opens June 8 at the California Surf Museum in Oceanside.

The California Surf Museum will honor the Windansea Surf Club's 50 years of surf and service with a exhibit next month. The exhibit, honoring this La Jolla surfing club, will open during the Surf Museum's 6th Annual Gala on June 8.

The California Surf Museum said:

The Windansea Surf Club, formed in 1963, has been a force to be reckoned with in the world of surfing ever since its inception. It is not the largest club, or the oldest.

Yet the Windansea Surf Club has had more notable legends, more outstanding shapers, accomplished women, contest records, memorable parties, big wave riders, and more public service achievements than any surf club in North American history.

Perhaps it was in part a result of a magic time and place, where all the elements necessary for a successful club came together in a perfect amalgamation of competition, travel, events, camaraderie, and organizational skills that allowed such an anomaly to flourish.

The gala will have food, drink, music and a live and silent auction.

Tickets are $65 for California Surf Museum and Windansea Surf Club members, $90 for nonmembers and $1,100 for a VIP packet for 10. Buy tickets online here.
