Back-To-School Fashion Finds

La Jolla stores offer teens the hottest looks for back-to-school shopping.

Historically, only one thing can improve the dower moods of our pimply-faced, flat toned, and attitude challenged teenagers and that’s new back-to-school clothes.

Labor Day signifies the end of summer, whether you like it or not. It can also mean great sales, so if you haven’t started shopping for your teenage boy or girl yet, LJ Patch is gonna’ hook you up.

La Jolla has a plethora of choices when it comes to helping teens find their perfectly hip outfit.  Whatever your budget or style one need not drive far to find unique and fashionable clothing.

: Located along Girard Avenue is the shop for teen girls. It can be a little pricey, but definitely a hot spot for the girl who likes to be as trendy as possible. Sales associate Dani Vincent says the hottest items this season are colored and vintage style high-waisted shorts, cropped crochet tops, high-low dresses (dresses that are short in front, long in back), and Kimonos—all very edgy and sexy. Watch out for those dress code violations with this store.

: This cutesy and “disposable clothing” store gets girls all the basics tees they may need at a very low price. Assistant Manager, Josie Delapena, says they sell a lot of colored tees, hoodies, jeans, sweats, and leggings—all for under $15.

: With two stores, one in Bird Rock, the other in North Park, this boutique offers a higher price point for the usual teen budget, but the quality is evident. Sales associate Mia Fonserrada says she’s seen a lot of girls looking to buy baggy sweaters, biker jackets, and vintage style dresses.

DSW: For shoes, this really should be everyone’s first and last stop. Located in UTC, this store offers a huge selection and great prices on shoes, handbags, backpacks, socks, and more. The sales people told LJ Patch that the hottest item right now for teen boys and girls right are shoes by Converse.

Forever 21: Located in the Westfield UTC mall, the store offers cutting edge style and is inexpensive to boot. This store is probably every girls’ favorite shop to find trendy dresses for work and play.  Always borrowing style from the top designers to stay ahead, this season the store is heavily pushing lace, sailor pants, and boldly colored shift dresses.

Sun Diego: Located in the Westfield UTC mall, this store is probably best known for supplying guys with great style without being too metro. Lots of cargo and board shorts, soft cotton graphic tees, and a huge selection of Toms shoes.

Charlotte Russe: Also located in the Westfield UTC mall, CR has been a local San Diego favorite for many years. Similar to Forever 21 in its concept of offering trendy pieces at affordable prices, sales associates in the store say they see girls flocking to contoured mini-skirts and over-sized tees—all worn with tights and leggings. CR is known for helping achieve the perfect-layered look.

If none of these stores rocks your teens’ world, then the uber hip H & M, store located in the Fashion Valley mall, will definitely get your son or daughter dressed and ready to go come Tuesday morning—whether they like or not.
