San Diego Film Festival Hits High Note with “Musicwood” Screening in La Jolla

The San Diego Film Festival hosted a private screening for the San Diego premiere of “Musicwood,” a documentary featuring Taylor Guitar CEO Bob Taylor. VIP Festival pass holders and special guests came out on June 9 to ArcLight Cinemas in La Jolla, California to see the thought-provoking documentary that followed the most famous guitar-makers in the world on a journey to save Alaska’s Sitkha spruce from permanent eradication.

Before the screening, attendees enjoyed a Champagne reception courtesy of BMW of Encinitas, appetizers provided by Via Italia and mini cupcakes from Sprinkles. After the screening, Tonya Mantooth, vice president of the Film Festival, interviewed Taylor and then led an audience Q&A.

According to Dale Strack, chairman and CEO of the nonprofit San Diego Film Foundation that produces the San Diego Film Festival, this screening is a perfect example of what VIP and Festival pass holders can expect from this year’s Festival.

“At the screening of “Musicwood,” attendees had the opportunity to meet film aficionados, connect with San Diego business elite and meet one of the stars from the film, founder of Taylor Guitars, Bob Taylor,” said Strack. “When you attend the San Diego Film Festival, you don’t just see a film – you hear directly from the directors, meet the actors and fully experience the medium.”

Throughout the summer, the San Diego Film Foundation will host several VIP-only film screenings, all leading up to the San Diego’s 13th annual Film Festival. Although you can’t purchase tickets for the screenings yet, you can purchase tickets to the Festival – with special pricing now available.  Purchasing a VIP Festival pass now means entry into the remaining screenings this summer, front-of-the-line access to the films during the five-day festival, invitation to Opening Night and the Celebrity Tribute, plus valet parking and exclusive access to the VIP lounges, complete with hosted cocktails and hors d'oeuvres. Visit www.sdfilmfest.com/attend to purchase VIP passes. Summer savings end June 30, 2014.
