Hyatt Regency La Jolla’s Jayne Aston Honored by Tourism Industry

Hyatt Regency La Jolla announced today that Jayne Aston, Director of Food and Beverage at the hotel, has been named the Food and Beverage Person of the Year in Management at this year’s Thirty-Fifth Annual Gold Key Awards Dinner. Revealed on Feb. 13 at the Hilton San Diego Bayfront in San Diego, Calif., the coveted awards are presented to individuals who have made an outstanding contribution to the betterment of the tourism and hospitality industries.

“I’m so proud to be recognized for my contributions at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla,” said Jayne Aston. “Receiving this award for Food and Beverage Person of the Year in Management is important to me, particularly when I consider how many talented people there are in my field in San Diego.”

Originally from England and educated at Oxford University, Jayne Aston has been with Hyatt for 17 years and has been at the Hyatt Regency La Jolla for the past 6 years. During this time she has ensured the highest level of hospitality while also being a notable proponent for talent development by extending her mentorship to new managers and directors, as well as Hyatt’s Leadership Committee. In addition to her demanding role as Food and Beverage Director, Jayne has undergone Chinese language training to provide a further asset to the hotel, which receives guests from around the world. She is also a certified Court Appointed Special Advocate with Voices for Children, a San Diego-based nonprofit organization benefitting foster children, and is a military wife with two young boys.

The Thirty-Fifth Annual Gold Key Awards were sponsored by the San Diego County Motel-Hotel Association and the Hospitality Sales and Marketing Association International. Additional participating organizations include International Special Events Society, Meeting Professionals International, National Association of Catering Executives, San Diego Concierge Association, and San Diego Convention & Visitors Bureau.
