La Jollan Donates $3.5M to Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego

The Joseph Clayes III Charitable Trust made a $3.5 million to the Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego—the largest in the charity’s history.

The donation will make an instrumental difference in the care and services offered to families with hospitalized children. The gift will create the Joseph Clayes III Endowment Fund and provide an ongoing stream of funding to the organization.

To recognize the Joseph Clayes III Charitable Trust for its generosity, the great room in San Diego’s Ronald McDonald House will be renamed the Joseph Clayes III Great Room, after La Jolla Joseph Clayes III.

An intimate dedication ceremony took place Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013. It included a ribbon cutting, and comments from Chuck Day, president and CEO of Ronald McDonald House Charities of San Diego, and co-trustee of the endowment Trulette Clayes, the niece of Joseph Clayes III.
