Ahoy! Popular Pirate Festival Returns Sept. 15-16

The very popular San Diego Pirate Festival returns to the region September 15 and 16, 2012.

It's Back! Due to popular demand from those with peg legs and parrots, the San Diego Pirate Festival isreturning to San Diego County Sept. 15 and 16. Gold Coast Festivals, which produces the already popular Escondido Renaissance Faire and the Vista Civil War Re-Enactment, is once again bringing the feel of the high seas to San Diego – This will be the largest Pirate Festival ever held in San Diego County.

The San Diego Pirate Festival will take visitors back in time to the 15th - 17th centuries, when scoundrels ruled the seas and plundering was a way of life! Hundreds of costumed re-enactors will take over the grounds of the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum in Vista for the two-day event.

Parades, pirate battles, street entertainers, & educational presentations will occur through the village both days.

Pirate enthusiasts from all over the western United States will set sail for San Diego to create a weekend filled with music, food and fun. The event will include an outdoor market, offering visitors unique and original handcrafted items as well as period clothing, armament, fine jewelry, pirate booty and a selection of one-of-a kind plunder from captured ships.  A full food court will be available with an array of foods and a well-stocked “Pirates Tavern.”  Kids' activities include treasure hunts and costume contests.

Battle re-enactments and demonstrations will occur throughout both days.
