Dense Fog Blankets Morning Commute

Fog threatened to delay flights out of San Diego's Lindbergh Field on Tuesday as well.

Dense fog blanketed San Diego County coastal areas early Tuesday, threatening flight delays at Lindbergh Field and creating dangerous road conditions.

The National Weather Service issued a dense fog advisory from 1 to 9 a.m. for coastal areas, saying the fog would extend up to five miles inland, mostly after 5 a.m. A dense fog advisory means visibility will frequently be reduced to a quarter-mile or less.

"Visibilities will rapidly reduce in dense fog, posing a threat to motorists along all coastal state routes and freeways ... through the morning commute," an NWS advisory said. "Flight delays may occur at coastal airports early this morning as well."
