Photos: Preuss School UCSD Class of 2011

Nearly 100 Preuss School UCSD seniors received their high school diplomas on Thursday and 100 percent of graduates are college-bound, and are the first generation in their families to do so.

, which is jointly chartered by the San Diego Unified School District and , selects its diverse student body by application and lottery. Students must express potential to go on to college, be the first in their family to do so and come from low income households.

The Preuss School is a nationally recognized school, which is fully funded by community donations. The school has longer school days and an extended school year of 198 days verses the traditional 180.

In addition to class speakers, San Diego Unified School District Board Members Scott Barnett and Preuss Principal Scott Barton spoke to the 97 graduates from the school’s Manchester Field on UCSD’s campus.
