Participate in Some Hot Topic Talk

The Institute of Americas is having a conversation on our border with Mexico and the future that lies ahead.

The hot topic of the San Diego-Tijuana border is coming to light this week over at the Institute of the Americas and you’re invited to join the conversation.

On Wednesday, developer and philanthropist Malin Burnham, James Clark, and Ambassador Charles Shapiro will be at the Institute to speak about the border, which Burnham says is “the most important corner of the continental United States.”

Burnham is a member of the Institute of the Americas board of directors. He will be at the lecture to talk about the burgeoning San Diego-Tijuana border.

Also at the lecture will be Clark, the director of the Mexico Business Center at the San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce. He was an official international observer in Mexico City during the 2006 Federal Elections.

Shapiro, the third speaker at this lecture, is a former U.S. diplomat and Ambassador to Venezuela and current president at the Institute.

Come listen to these men talk about our border with Mexico and join the conversation on this heated topic. General admission for this talk is $10, but if you’re an IOA member, you get in free. The lecture will take place at the Institute of the Americas on UCSD's campus on Jan. 26 from 2:30-4 p.m. Register here for this event.
