Cop Hop Rocks for Police Affiliated Organizations

A 'Cop Hop' fundraiser benefiting the San Diego Police Foundation and the San Diego Police Historical Association was held at the La Jolla Farms estate of Ramin Pourteymour Saturday night.

Hundreds of guests gathered in 40’s or cocktail attire at the Cop Hop at the La Jolla Farms estate of Ramin Pourteymour on Saturday night. The fundraising affair benefits San Diego Police Foundation and the San Diego Police Historical Association.

Guests arriving at check in were greeted by zoot suited guys and glam gals outfitted by Leonard Simpson’s Fashion Forward. The models were poised by San Diego Police Historical Association police cars, paddocks and more from the era.

San Diego’s Police Chief William Lansdowne was on hand greeting guests as well.

Among the supporters were Maria and John Assaraf, Tina and Geoff Bowles, Luis Castillo, realtor Maxine Gellens, Abeer and George Hage, the very engaged Cheryl Mitchell and Ross Gano, Gale and Scott O’Mara, Romina and Roger Pourteymour, Claire Reiss, Leonard Simpson, Sally and John Thornton, and Farhad Yousefi,

In addition,  SDPD Community Relations Officer Alan Alvarez, Assemblyman Nathan Fletcher, Sheriff Bill Gore and Natalie Gore,  Rana Sampson and Mayor Jerry Sanders, and Assistant Chief Shelley Zimmerman attended the festivities.

The Hage’s not only hosted a table of friends, but they also generously donated a dozen or so very coveted wines for auction. One went for around the $1,000 mark.

Buffet style dining had offerings including filet mignon with either scalloped potatoes or mac ‘n cheese from Fleming’s Prime Steakhouse, and kabobs from .

More there were District Attorney Bonnie Dumanis, Rocio and Mike Flynn, Tom Groff, Scott Johnston, retired police chief Bill Kolender, Sara Napoli (she’s the CEO of the San Diego Police Foundation), and Jack Wasserman,

“As a 32 year veteran of the San Diego Police Department and recipient of the SDPD's first Purple Heart Award, I know that the men and women of law enforcement are extremely appreciative of the support and contributions of the community” said Johnston.  “No where was the support more evident than (at the Cop Hop), as a couple hundred kindred spirits gathered together to enjoy a night of fabulous food, entertainment, conversation, and dancing.”

And dance they did to the swinging tunes of Big Time Operator.

For the San Diego Police Foundation, proceeds from this event will go towards funding San Diego Police Department’s unbudgeted needs including converting the evidence room’s paper files to digital and essential safety equipment. For the San Diego Police Historical Association, funds will help preserve the 122 year history of San Diego City law enforcement which includes a fleet of 18 historical and restored vehicles, the largest in the country.
