Classic Film and Wine Under the Stars

The will show Gigi on the patio Thursday night at 8 p.m. as part of its Flicks on the Bricks series. It is the last of five films in the series, which included Goldfinger and Like Water for Chocolate.

The musical Gigi is a classic film where a high-society playboy (Louis Jourdan) and young courtesan in training (Leslie Caron) meet and eventually fall for each other. It won nine Academy Awards, including Best Picture, in 1959.

The music and arts library has partnered for the season with wine connoisseur Barbara Baxter, who will be featuring classic French wines—red Bordeaux and Burgundy white whites.

Ticket prices include the wine tastings and are $17 for Athenaeum members and $22 for non members.

Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made online at ljathenaeum.org or over the phone at 858-454-5872. Tickets can also be purchased at the door, but these events usually sell out quickly.
